December Roundup 2023

Loughborough's wellbeing sessions were enhanced by a presentation from Helen of Loros, where she detailed the extensive facilities and services the organisation offers for support. The spectrum included dedicated care for Heart Related Conditions, Motor Neuron Disease, and Dementia. The wellbeing hub, available for emotional support, featured elements such as art therapy, mindfulness sessions, and assistance with wills.

The informative session concluded with an engaging Q&A session, leaving service users both enlightened and satisfied with the insights gained about Loros. Helen particularly enjoyed contributing to the Fun Movements session, adding a positive and interactive element to the event.

Joanne, representing the Charnwood Social Prescribing team, emphasised the significance of screening services. Collaborating with her and her team was a pleasure, providing valuable insights into the services and connections beneficial to Charnwood's service users. Joanne addressed queries related to GP services and clarified the correct procedures for accessing appropriate healthcare services.

A delightful day trip to Gates Garden Centre in Oakham elevated the Loughborough experience. From festive foods to picturesque walks around lakes and aquariums, the outing offered a plethora of choices in the outdoor and indoor plant areas. The Christmas section sparked ideas for gifts and home decor, creating a festive atmosphere that was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The bakery presented a tempting array of fresh bread, cakes, chutneys, and jams, complemented by a selection of wines and fresh produce. Exploring Lakeland for kitchen purchases and Pavers for winter footwear and woollies added to the day's diversity. The journey back, through scenic routes, provided a relaxing backdrop for sharing and reflecting on the day's positive experiences.

Thurmaston's wellbeing session focused on 'Dementia,' with Safia, a clinical nurse from the NHS, providing valuable insights into symptoms and positive approaches to understanding and accommodating this condition. Plans are in place to incorporate these learnings into Loughborough's sessions in the New Year.

The Adhar Project celebrated Christmas festivities at the Jungle Club, with over 100 attendees reveling in the holiday spirit. The success of the celebration reflected in the joyous atmosphere created by fine dining and flowing drinks.

As the year comes to a close, we extend warm wishes for happy holidays and look forward to the new year ahead.
